At the request of my friend and avid electronics enthusiast, Misha, I was tasked with designing a device for counting visitors in retail spaces. The device comprised two parts to be mounted in the doorway, communicating through an infrared beam to tally the store's foot traffic.

After studying technical constraints, requirements, and PCB dimensions, I sketched several layouts for the device. It was crucial to consider the mounting type in the doorway, aesthetic factors, tactile access to the device's interface, and much more.

The attachment in the doorway is facilitated by a detachable mechanism, enabling easy handling of the device for data collection, settings, and handheld use, akin to a remote control.

The infrared transmitter on one side and the receiver on the other are concealed behind a black panel, which combines an LCD display and a power indicator LED.

The device housing is made of durable white plastic, maintaining an overall design that follows a minimalist and functional style.
